The M4 Colt Commando is an American-made carbine. It was the Long-Range weapon of the Navy SEAL.

  • Length: 30 in
  • Cartridge: 5.56x45mm NATO
  • Action: Direct impingement
  • Rate of Fire: 700 to 900 rpm

The M4 Commando is similar to, but more compact than, the M4A1 Carbine, both of which were based upon the AR-15 ArmaLite. The Commando is primarily used by US Special Operations Forces (as each rifle is at least $5,800 as of 2018). Regular US forces use the M4 as well, but are given cheaper variations instead of the Commando.

This weapon was tested against the Israeli Commando's Micro Galil in hitting a moving pig target surrounded by four bystanders. The M4 hit the pig target with all 30 rounds in 34s while the Micro Galil fired only 23 rounds in 48s, achieving 21 hits and two grazes. The edge was given to the M4 for its accuracy, faster rate of fire, and tighter grouping.
